Company History
Organic Ag, Inc. began almost 35 years ago with Ken Holladay. Ken began to participate in a new program where green waste material could be diverted from the landfills to be used as land application for growers in their orchards. The business, Ken Holladay Spreading, began with just one tractor and one spreader and was owned and operated by Ken.
He was the first in the county to start using the greenwaste as ground cover for the local orchards. Ken realized the importance for the mulch. He learned of the nutrients that it provided for the soil and for the trees. He also learned that the mulch was a cost saving benefit for the growers by allowing them to use less water for irrigation because of the way in which the mulch retained the moisture.
History #2 |
Ken slowly built up the business over the next fifteen years adding additional equipment and personnel as the demand for the green waste material grew and grew. The business soon expanded outside of the immediate area of Fillmore to all areas of Ventura County and beyond.
In 2005, Ken met with his sons and they decided the best way to see the company grow for the future would be to incorporate. So in December of 2005, Ken Holladay Spreading turned over to Organic Ag, Inc. In the past two years, the business has seen even more growth and additional equipment and staff has been added to meet the increasing demand for the greenwaste. The corporation has now moved well outside of the immediate Ventura County and has been providing service to areas in Riverside County, Los Angeles, as well as the Temecula area. Organic Ag, Inc. now looks toward the future to see where the Lord will lead this rapidly growing company.
